The facts
As a community, we were shocked and dismayed to recently discover that Thomas Sewell, one of Australia’s most prominent Neo-Nazis, is living in a rented $2.5m property in Hurstbridge — and continues to post hateful content from this location.
Documents obtained by The Age show his Hurstbridge address listed as White Australia’s headquarters.
He has publicly said he wants to build neo-Nazi home-school networks — plans that drew a state-government investigation. That’s not someone planning to keep to himself. Home-schooling networks are about reaching children, and we’re worried about what he’s trying to build here.
These are Sewell's own words
Sewell is a self-proclaimed Nazi with many powerful, wealthy backers:
“Among Sewell’s rich associates are a race-car driver turned failed political candidate who owns a fleet of planes; the son of a gun dealer and inventor in regional Victoria; a jet-setting “manfluencer” friend of Andrew Tate who sells penis supplements to teenagers; a property development heir turned provocateur, and a stockbroker mixing with MAGA influencers overseas.”
Thomas Sewell’s record of violence and criminal history is thoroughly documented
Assault conviction
- Channel 9 attack: In 2022, Sewell was found guilty of assault, affray, and recklessly causing injury after he repeatedly punched a security guard in the head outside the Nine Network offices in Melbourne. [1] [2] [7]
- Racial vilification: The court found that Sewell and an associate deliberately goaded, filmed, and hurled racial slurs at the guard to instigate a fight. [1] [2]
Current violent charges and trial
- Camp Sovereignty assault: Sewell is awaiting trial on multiple charges including violent disorder, group assault, and affray. [1]
- Targeting First Nations people: Prosecutors allege that in August 2025, Sewell led a group of 15 black-clad neo-Nazis to storm “Camp Sovereignty,” an Indigenous protest site in Melbourne. [1] [2]
- Victim injuries: The group allegedly pinned down, kicked, and punched occupants. The attack left three people injured, including a woman who required staples to close a head wound. Magistrate Donna Bakos ruled the evidence sufficient to support a conviction. [1] [2] [4]
Extremist leadership and links to terror
- Hate group prohibition: Sewell was the leader of the National Socialist Network (NSN) and White Australia, organisations that the Australian government officially banned as prohibited terrorist/hate groups in May 2026. Supporting or funding them is entirely outlawed. [1] [2] [3]
- Christchurch shooter connection: An official public inquiry revealed that years before the 2019 Christchurch mosque massacres, Sewell aggressively attempted to recruit the terrorist gunman, Brenton Tarrant, into an Australian white-nationalist cell. [1] [8]
Recognising how groups like this recruit, divide, and prey is the first step to stopping them.
